Toronto , Ontario
Camila Wong is a Peruvian born artist and illustrator based in Toronto, Ontario. She began drawing and painting at a young age, often attending a variety of visual arts classes throughout her youth before receiving her BFA in Drawing and Painting, as well as Illustration from OCAD University.
Her main artistic influences are Latin American art, Vincent Van Gogh, and Chuck Close which can be seen to have inspired her use of bold colours and energetic brush strokes. Her style of brushstrokes allows her to create lively movement, harmony and unity but also communicates her emotions and strength visually.
In addition to her paintings, she often explores other artistic mediums and techniques, including creating both digital and illustrations for children’s books, online blogs, magazines, private/public murals in Toronto and private client commissions. Her works have appeared in OCAD textbook, have been exhibited in group shows, and she has also performed several live painting events throughout Toronto.
She continues exploring and learning other subjects and hoping to inspire future generations especially to people with disability.
